About the Chamber

Our Mission:

The Oklahoma Black Chamber of Commerce, Inc. is dedicated to economically empowering and sustaining African American communities and minorities in Oklahoma through procurement, company recruitment, entrepreneurship and capitalistic activity within the State of Oklahoma and via interaction with the National Black Chamber of Commerce, Inc. and the Black Diaspora.

Oklahoma has a population of 3,450,654 people of which our African American population is only 260,968 people or 7.6% of the population of Oklahoma. Oklahoma and Tulsa Counties comprise 160,897 of our population, leaving 100,071 African Americans in other counties of the State. There are some local chambers acting for the benefit of their immediate city, but the African American population have no central structure in the State that brings business opportunities and resources to our African American businesses and ultimately to our African American population.

It is the OBCC’s vision of improving the African American businesses in Oklahoma, by bringing more jobs, education and business expertise to the Oklahoma African American Communities.  With more than 1 million African American owned businesses in the United States accounting for over $100 billion in annual sales, African Americans have over $800 billion in expendable income each year, according to the U.S. Bureau of Census.  The OBCC is dedicated to economically empowering and sustaining Oklahoma’s African American communities through entrepreneurship and capitalistic activities within the State of Oklahoma and nationally via interaction with the National Black Chamber of Commerce (NBCC), Washington, D.C.
